Yesterday in Rivers State, youths lay siege to the numerous local government headquarters following the expiry of the tenure of the 23 local government chairmen in the state, leaving two dead.
This came after the state Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, thanked the former Chairmen for their service and directed the 23 Local Government Heads to assume the administration of their respective local governments.
Mr Fubara also assured residents that he would forge ahead fearlessly to ensure that peace continues to prevail in the state while protecting all patriotic supporters who stand on the path of truth.
Reacting to the crisis in the state, an elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, blamed former governor Nyesom Wike for the insecurity situation in the state, insisting that “Godfatherism must die in Rivers.
