Many movie actors and filmmakers in Rivers State, where the deceased millionaire kidnapper Henry Odenigbo wielded sway as an actor and film producer until meeting his Waterloo on July 4 in Lagos, reacted with fear, horror, and incredulity. Called Ode by his friends, he was the mastermind behind a group of nine kidnappers that preyed on affluent Lagos residents. Following a gunfight with the police in the Ladipo, Mushin neighborhood of Lagos, they were slain. The late kidnapper, who owned Aso-Rich Production in Port-Harcourt, was regarded as one of the major investors of film projects in Rivers during his lifetime. However, state filmmakers were unaware that Ode was a mastermind behind kidnappings.
