The trial of Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, who is being held on a drug trafficking charge, was allowed to continue Wednesday by the Court of Appeal in Abuja. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, presented eight counts against the suspended DCP; nevertheless, the court dismissed his appeal as without merit. Accused of tampering with cocaine that was taken from two convicted drug dealers, Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne and Chibunna Patrick Umeibe, Kyari, the previous head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), was named. Along with four other members of his squad, ACP SundayUbia, ASP Bawa James, Insp. Simon Agirigba, and Insp. John Nuhu, he is on trial.
